I began my career in law enforcement with the Fremont Police Department in 1989 and graduated in the 101st basic training session at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. I served as a cruiser officer until 1994 when I was promoted to corporal. One year later I was promoted to sergeant and in 1998 I was promoted to lieutenant, the position I am still in. I hold a bachelors degree in criminal justice administration and am a graduate of the 212th session of the FBI National Academy.

I am married and have four children, one of which is serving with the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq. My hobbies include spending time with my children, hunting and target shooting.
