Isaac Brown

 

Isaac S. Brown became Chief of Police with the McCook Police Department in 1997, after having worked his way up through the ranks since joining the department in 1981. Chief Brown holds a degree in criminal justice and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.

He is an active member in the Police Chiefs Association of Nebraska, Police Officers Association of Nebraska, FBI National Associates of Nebraska, and International Association of Chiefs of Police; and was appointed to the Nebraska Jail Standards Board by Governor Mike Johanns in April 2010.

Community involvement includes membership and active participation in McCook Alcohol and Drug Awareness Team, McCook Area Crime Stoppers, Southwest Nebraska Youth Services Center, McCook Chamber of Commerce, Southwest Nebraska Child Advocacy Team, Community Health Partners, and Safe Communities Committee.

Chief Brown also co-wrote LB411, which revised child safety seat laws and was adopted by the legislature this spring.

Chief Brown has been actively involved in community policing since becoming chief and has led the McCook Police Department and the City of McCook in transitioning to community policing practices. The efforts included interagency resource sharing, collaborative community partnerships, and increased public awareness and participation.
