BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

Holiday Inn Convention Center

Kearney, Nebraska

October 6, 2009

MEMBERS PRESENT: 46

President Dreyer called the meeting to order at 1210 hours.

 

MINUTES: Minutes from the October 13, 2008 Annual Business Meeting were presented. Rick Carmichael, Ret. Chief of Police, Fairbury PD made a motion to approve the minutes. Jim Agler, North Platte PD provided a second. Motion was approved by voice vote.

 

TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer's report was presented. Lance Webster, Wayne PD made a motion to accept the report. Jim Agler, North Platte PD provided a second. Motion was approved by voice vote.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. Retirement Update: Jim Peschong provided an update on the retirement bills in the Legislature. It appears the only thing which might get accomplished is an enhancement for the First Class Cities Retirement.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Elections:

•  2nd Vice-President nominations:

•  Kim Christensen, York PD

•  Ed Burmood, Hastings PD

•  Mike Swain, North Platte PD

ELECTED: Kim Christensen, York PD.

 

Board of Directors: 2-three year terms and 1-one year term.

Nominations:

1. Andrea Towler, Hastings PD

2. Bruce Felty, Holdrege PD

3. Kurt Bottorff, Fremont PD

4. Doug Provance, Kimball PD

ELECTED: Three year terms:

•  Andrea Towler, Hastings PD

•  Doug Provance, Kimball PD

One year term:

•  Kurt Bottorff, Fremont PD

Secretary/Treasurer: Jim Agler, North Platte PD made a motion to appoint Bill Larsen as Secretary/Treasurer by acclimation. Lance Webster, Wayne PD provided a second. Motion was approved by voice vote.

 

Kurt Bottorff, Fremont PD made a motion to destroy the ballots. Jim Agler, North Platte PD provided a second. Motion was approved by voice vote.

 

Bruce Felty, Holdrege PD made a motion to move the 1 st Vice-President up to President and the 2 nd Vice-President up to 1 st Vice-President. Jim Agler, North Platte PD provided a second. Motion was approved by voice vote.

 

2. Scholarships:

•  Sgt. Kevin Darling, McCook PD

•  Mike Hawthorne, Central City PD

•  Dan White, Auburn PD

•  Douglas Adams, South Sioux City PD

•  Steven Edwards, Lancaster County Bailiff.

 

President Dreyer reported the 2010 Conference will be October 3-6 at the Ramada Inn, Kearney, NE.

 

President Dreyer asked for any other new business, or anything else for the good of the order. Nothing was presented.

 

Jim Agler, North Platte PD made a motion to adjourn. Rick Carmichael, Fairbury PD(Ret) provided a second. Motion was approved by voice vote.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 1300 hours.
